About Springdale

Thanks to Camden’s mild winter climate, the Springdale Training Center is a year-round training center, that offers a variety of surfaces and facilities.

Camden’s sand-based soil, combined with temperate winters, adds to a healthier environment for the horses.

On the grounds; which includes spacious barns and turnout paddocks; there is a 1 1/6 dirt track,  with designated turf breezing strips and turf gallops in the infield. The 5/8ths mile dirt track includes a 6 stall starting gate. The infield of this track is composed of various schooling hurdles for steeplechase horses.

The quiet, serene setting which affords trainers with the daily choice of working their horses on the dirt, the turf or a hack in the woods, allows for trainers to prepare their horses and have them ready to perform when they hit the race track.

The facility is well maintained by Jeff Teter, former NSA champion jockey.

The Springdale Training Center is fortunate to have teams of veterinarians, farriers and equine therapists who call Camden and Kershaw County home, and who service the industry and the training center.
